Barcelona (Spain, 91 trophies)

Barcelona is usually considered to be the most successful football club of all time. Whether it is true or not, it is undoubted that the Catalan club is among the greatest clubs in the history of football. Barcelona’s motto means More Than A Club (Més que un club).  Unlike many other football clubs, Barcelona is owned and run by supporters.

Barcelona has earned 30 Copa del Rey, 26 LaLiga, 13 Supercopa de España, 3 Copa Eva Duarte, and 2 Copa de la Liga trophies. It is also the only football team the world to have won up to three trophies in two seasons, namely 2008-09 and 2014-15. In 2008-09 season they, Barcelona also won FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and Spanish Super Cup, to become the first Spanish football club to win six trophies just in one year.

Real Madrid (Spain, 90 trophies)

Only one trophy behind Barcelona, Real Madrid’s brightest record is their Champions League victories from 2016 to 2018 to become the only club to have won three Champions Leagues back to back.

In their country, Real is also a big record holder with the most domestic titles won and the most successive seasons won in a row. Although Real don’t rank first in the list of the football clubs having earned most trophies in the world, they are really successful and famous.

All in all, within their own country, Real have won 65 trophies, consisting of 19 Copa del Rey, 33 LaLiga titles, 11 Supercopa de España, a Copa de la Liga, and a Copa Eva Duarte. When it comes to European and international competitions, Real has 13 UEFA Champions League titles, 7 club world championships, 4 UEFA Super Cups, and 2 UEFA Cups in the bag. Real Madrid also hold the record for longest unbeaten run at home in LaLiga.

Real Madrid

Real Madrid comes at the first place in the list of football clubs with most fans in the world. The club has become the most successful football club in Europe with 9 Champion Leagues and 32 LaLiga titles. They have a tendency to buy superstars and that’s the reason why they are called Galacticos (meaning “galactic” in Spanish). But particularly, this word refers to footballers at superstar levels.

Great players like Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham, Makelele, Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Figo, Xabi Alonso, Kaka, and Steve McManaman have all played for the LaLiga giant.

The number of Real fans is declared by some sports sites to be about 250 million. However, Emilio Butragueno, the club’s director of institutional relations, says the real number of Real fans is around 450 million from across 186 of 193 countries in the world.

The franchise has 109 million followers on Facebook, 87 million on Instagram, oezand 34 million on Twitter, and all these numbers are growing. With 90 trophies so far, the LaLiga giant is also on the list of the world’s top 10 football clubs with most trophies.

FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona is said to have around 220 million fans across the world and is also the richest football club in the world with annual revenue of over €800 million. Now, the name Barcelona may be mostly associated with the name Lionel Messi. Some think that the club has gained lots of fans thanks to the Argentinian superstar. However, it can’t be deny that Barcelona’s own achievements have played a part in its popularity since they have won 26 LaLiga titles and 30 Copa del Rey so far.

Barcelona has more than 100 million followers on Facebook, around 85 million on Instagram, and 32.5 million on Twitter. Legends such as Thierry Henry, Diego Maradona, Romario, Frank Rijkaard, and Johan Cryuff, and great players such as Lionel Messi, Pep Guardiola, Xavi, Andres Iniesta, and Neymar have all played at the club.
